Web Design Will Be History Soon

Remember back then, say about 10 years ago or so, everyone had to get into HTML and Javascript just to create some page that we called FANCY and our clients said, “wow, I loved that scrolling news man!”.

Now, it so seems, web design is slowly becoming the thing of the past.

It’s impossible to survive as a free lance web designer unless you have a lot of clients who are dumb or It could be simply because they trust you  for security, reliability or they could be just your friend through a few bucks at you. And their hope ? I hope this web site makes money or it makes my business grow, or I am going to be in BAHAMAs tomorrow with no more freaking jobs to do!

I don’t know if you really need to listen to me, you know already. But if you really need help, here are ways that proves to me that the history of working as a Freelance Web Designer is becoming History.

Proofs…

  • Most companies now offer top-notch hosting with built in site design at any company can start setting up and selling. To name a few, godaddy.com, Intuit.com. The later, is like a new revolution in design to me. It also provides tools for small business such as the Payroll Management, Point of Sale, and Checks and Supplies along with Accounting. It’s not the only company out there, bunches of them are doing it, simply because it’s easier for companies to use their services which are often bundled.
  • Web Hosting and Domain Registration companies now offer onclick installation of popular content management software like Joomla or WordPress, well, you name it. They have it and with one click and with your know-how knowledge, you could build a site in no time. As these contentment programs or rather web programs have a large community, getting the layout, fancy logos, and updating your site isn’t difficult at all.

So, for those freelance web designers, what’s are the challenges ahead ?

  • Perhaps a new idea has to come to our head before they embark on tweaking this or that of the already existing open source softwares like the ones I mentioned above. Did you know that a lot of web designers simply use the open source software. They only find templates and tweak it.
  • Perhaps Web Design skill isn’t enough. So our marketing skills needs to be added along with building skills or in fact, it’s time to build our own products.  I would say, perhaps an App for iPhone ? or Droid  Mobile phone or any mobile for that matter. As more and more people are reading news, watching videos on the go and we are witnessing the growing popularity of social networking sites such as facebook, webmasters, need to shift their attention to what’s hot out there. That is it that will drive our force of creativity ? Create a product, then sell it. We did spend a lot of money to learn the design, but now, through our product we are going to get every freaking penny back. Is it really that simple ? Well, if we count the hours we had spent learning our first Web Design, creating apps for mobile devices is often FREE and it’s half the time in learning.
  • If you have time, ideas, skills, nothing is unachievable.
  • While apple may charge a few bucks to become their developer, who knows the money you invested could bring out the #1 app  and soon your bank account could be flooded with money.
  • So, should all of keep Apple in our mind ? It’s like should we keep everything in one basket ? I think we need to think of other devices as well too. Conclusion, it’s time to extend Web-design to Product Creation.

As we’ve already seen the death of web, I mean websites. Days could be a year from now that only thousands of websites might survive. The leftover in our freeze would be either facebook, twiter, youtube, or perhaps there is an idea that has yet to pop out which takes over every single one of these.

Where is that Ideas ? Who has it ? Are you the Web Designer ? You might have it. Tap your head for good and dream, and DREAM BIG !
