Graphic Card is Half of Your Computer Price
May 19, 2008 Computer and Internet
Ever wonder why such a s*t*u*p*i*d tiny card would cost so much sometime as much as half the price of your computer?
I believe there is a lobbying going on here between PC makers and Graphic Card Manufactures. I have a strong feeling that these graphic card manufacturers are making more profit and also allowing PC manufacturers to classify their computers into various categories so they could confuse the consumers. Would you agree ?
Say a graphic cards such as (Geforce 7900GTX GeForce 7950GX2 or the Radeon X1950XTX) that is about 256mb capacity costs on average $125, 512mb around $500 and 1g or more could around somewhere near the $1K to $1.5K. My G O D !!
Who buys these ? Doctors, Engineers and all those who can afford ?
Even the motherboard and processors aren’t that expensive so why is the graphic card so expensive?
If graphic cards were cheaper, computer manufactuers might jut have one model called “PC” instead of “Budget” “Low budget” “High-end” and all crap. It’s time for these manufactures to reduce their cost. You are making way toooooooooooo much profit guys and making all our PCs slow. Yeah, don’t tell us that we don’t have RAM, we do!
Does Microsoft or Apple make profit from Graphic Card Manufactures ? It’s just a card with some chips, why so much ??????????????????

This has been the dilemma of the PC gamers since.
I did have to save money and buy a 6600gt for almost $200. Now i can buy a 8600GT for just under $100.
But still, The new games require more power. With the upcoming GTX 260, it will still be on the enthusiast market that can enjoy 60fps on all games except crisis.

I asked this question to a customer who worked as a Systems Administrator for a very long time and she replied with this answer:
The Economy today is backward.
If we had more demand for Graphic Cards, their price would be down. Since only a handful of gamers and other so called EXTREME video editors buy graphic memory cards, the company will only mame money by jacking up the price.
I still don’t get it though. How can a company be allowed to Jackup the price even the Demand is less. I think it’s about time that Graphic Cards should cost less so even ordinary people can do extraordinary things.
Shame on Graphic Card Builders and those who are completely ignoring this case.
